Cover: Isochronal lines of activation (dark lines, 1 ms apart) recorded from atrioventricular (AV) node of a rabbit heart using voltage-sensitive dyes and superimposed on a longitudinal cross section of compact node, 150 µm below the surface. Histological analysis of tissue stained with hematoxylin-eosin identifies dark red regions as the intra-atrial (right) and the intraventricular septum (left), whereas adipose cells stain white and AV node region below the isochronal lines stains pale red. See B.-R. Choi and G. Salama. Am. J. Physiol. 274 (Heart Circ. Physiol. 43): H829-H845, 1998.
